Mission Trip Day 6

Sorry it's been so long since I've written about the trip. I've been busy with finishing my internship and moved back to Lincoln, so here's what happened on Thursday in Mexico.

It was our last day of working at the church. In the morning there was a funeral at the church, so instead we took time to walk around the town of San Rafael. It was cool to see around the little town. We took a lot of pictures. It was funny, because the whole town knew that we were there that week. At one point we walked by these two kids and they yelled, "Gringos!" (white people). Then we'd walk further and they'd yell "Gringos" again and wave back at us.

In the afternoon we finished the church. All we had left to do was paint the kitchen.
That night I also got the chance to call home and talk to my mom. It was really nice for Al to let us borrow his phone, when International minutes are expensive.

We also had a lot of rain on Thursday, which again is amazing because it's been so dry there. At night we went to a new Mexican restaurant and I had chicken fried chicken which was really good.

My main thought from Thursday was of how nice the people of the church have been to us. It's crazy to me how they cook food for us, when sometimes there family may not even be eating dinner that night. They sit and watch us eat, when they may not even get a chance to eat themselves. I find it really hard to grasp that.

Al and his new lady. This was at a barbershop.

The building that the church owns, but can't use because of a family issue.
